We have made some progressive movements in our goals. Back in late January, James and I had a meeting and presentation with the Douglas County Planning Comission and representatives from the Engineering Department and Building Department. The meeting was a success and the board was willing to work with our team in using the area. With their partnership, we are one step closer to the vision.

The entire Highlands Ranch Energy Project recently presented to the Highlands Ranch Metro District and Douglas County Board of Comissioners. Both presentations were successful and lobbied valuable support and interest.

Current obstacles that pertain specifically to the Wind Module are getting the SIP (Site Improvement Plan) completed and the fee waived ($1050). Then actually aquiring a MET tower from a lending program will be the next ojective. We are currently looking to NREL, Colorado School of Mines, Colorado State University, and the Governer’s Energy Office to hopefully partner with and obtain a tower.

We are currently working on contacting various people within NREL (National Renewable Energy Labratory) including Mr. Larry Flowers and Mr. Ian Baring-Gould to meet with us to discuss getting an anemometer tower. Alex has been working to find where the project left off on contracts and insurance and other legality issues between Shea Homes and the Douglas County Schoold District. We are hopefully going to be able to schedule a time to go up to Boulder to the National Wind Technology Center to meet with representatives about getting a tower. In the meantime, we have been working hard to compile information about the site and the towers themselves to present. Hopefully soon we’ll be moving away from the "it will happen" stage, to the "it is happening" stage of the project

Recent advancements in the Highlands Ranch Energy City include finally meeting our mentor, Doug Carter of Invenergy. Last Tuesday Doug met with Jamie and myself and enlightened us on a few basics of wind energy. He gave us websites to further expand our understanding (windpoweramerica.gov and nrgsystems.com) The hurdles that we will be overcoming so far is aquirring the land grant from Shea Homes to allow minors on the property. We will be incontact with Bob Nelson to work these issues out in upcoming episodes. After the legal issues are resolved, the actual aquisistion of the medtower will become our main priority.

The Energy City of Highlands Ranch is becoming a clearer and clearer reality each year with seniors of ThunderRidge High School working to change laws, test fuel cells, and put up energy generating wind turbines. To accomplish the latter, my partner Alex and myself, will be working indirectly with Invenergy Corporation to construct a tower on the Shea Homes property just north of the Highlands Ranch Town Center, to test the spead and direction of the wind in Highlands Ranch. This tower would generate a vast amount of data, 24/7 wind monitoring, to determine if wind generated energy is a possibility in the area. I think I speak for not only myself, but for my partner as well when I say that we can’t wait to get to work and change the world.
